Harissa Chicken Thighs + Lemon

Serves 4  | Prep Time: 5 (plus marinating time) minutes | Cook Time: 10-12 minutes

I love the mild heat of harissa. You can find the harissa spice in most specialty stores and online. But, if you’re just not wanting to buy it, look for taco seasoning. It’s made of similar spices.


  • 2 pounds boneless/skinless chicken thighs
  • Kosher salt to taste
  • 1 tablespoon (or more harissa powder (or taco seasoning)
  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • Fresh lemon
  • Optional: serve with some steamed black rice

Chef Tips


Step 1

Season chicken with salt on both sides. Evenly season the chicken with harissa and olive oil just to coat. Give a quick mix with your hands. Allow to marinate for 15 minutes or overnight.

Step 2

Heat a griddle or cast iron pan over medium hight heat. Sear on one side until golden brown. Continue on the other side until the chicken is cooked through. Squeeze with a good amount of lemon.
