Charred Broccoli

Serves 4  | Prep Time: 4 minutes | Cook Time: 10 minutes

I love broccoli! This is what I do for a quick and delicious preparation. Steam it briefly and then char on a cast iron surface. It just makes broccoli taste better.


  • 1-2 crowns broccoli (depending on how big they are)
  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 lemon

Chef Tips

If you don’t have steamer. Use a pot and fill it with about 2-3 inches of water. Bring it to a boil and season with a little salt. Add your vegetables in a single layer and cover. For broccoli it’ll be about 2 minutes.


Step 1

Steam the broccoli until bright green. About two minutes. Drain and cool.

Step 2

Heat a cast iron skillet or griddle over medium high heat. Toss the broccoli with some olive oil and season with salt. Char all over until darkened. About 5 minutes. Serve with lemon.
