Stir fries are great go to meals any day of the week. Plus you can easily swap whatever you have on hand.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound flat iron steak, thinly sliced (or flank steak)
  • Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons coconut aminos (or tamari)
  • 2 tablespoons avocado oil (or extra virgin olive oil)
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, micro planned
  • 1 teaspoon garlic (about 2 cloves garlic), micro planned
  • 2 bunches gai lan or 1 crown broccoli, cut into florets
  • To serve: steamed black rice and dulse flakes (optional)

Chef Tips

If using gai lan, separate the dark leafy parts from the stems. Cut the stems into 1-inch pieces on a bias and continue with step 4.

Preparation

Step 1

Start cooking the rice; according to the package instructions

Step 2

Place the steak in a bowl along with the sesame oil, coconut aminos (or tamari) and season with salt and freshly ground black pepper. Set aside for 10 minutes.

Step 3

Heat 2 tablespoons of avocado oil in a large skillet (or wok) over medium high heat. Add the steak and ginger; stir fry until the steak reaches desired doneness. Place contents into another bowl and set aside.

Step 4

Add another tablespoon of oil and stir-fry the broccoli until it’s bright green and tender; about 4-5 minutes. Season with salt. Place beef back the heat back through.

Step 5

Place some black rice into bowl and topped with some stir-fry and some dulse flakes (optional)
